This week 3rd & 4th Class welcomed a past pupil of St. Joseph's NS, Mr Alfie Markham, to come along and teach a series of art lessons for the week. Mr Markham is currently training to become a second level art teacher and this week formed part of his primary school placement, a requirement of his course.
Mr Markham focused his art lessons on developing the pupils skills through the medium of clay. Mr Markham also used our LEGO First league theme of 'Submerged' to allow the pupils to be creative and imaginative with their clay creations. They looked at some of the ceramic sculptor Courtney Mattison for inspiration for their own clay creations. They learnt how to make pinch pots, the technique of coiling and creating tiles. During the last lesson, they focused on colour and enjoyed painting their sculptures.
A very enjoyable, informative and creative week was enjoyed by all!
