Maths Week 2025 – Using Our Maths Eyes!
This week, we have been celebrating Maths Week along with schools all across Ireland! Our pupils have been encouraged to use their Maths Eyes – to spot maths in the world around them, both in school and at home.
The children have been busy exploring shapes, patterns, numbers, symmetry, measurements, angles and so much more — all hidden in everyday places! From counting windows and spotting triangles in playground equipment, to measuring ingredients in baking or noticing symmetry in nature, our pupils have discovered that maths is everywhere once you start to look for it.
Many children sent in photos showing the maths they found in their environment — such as patterns on pavements, circles in playground games, the geometry of buildings, and the numbers on signs. It’s been wonderful to see how creative and observant they have been!
All the children who took part by sending in photographs and using their Maths Eyes have received a homework pass from Mrs. Griffin as a special reward for their effort and enthusiasm.
Maths Week has helped us all to see that maths isn’t just something we do in the classroom — it’s part of our daily lives. Well done to everyone for opening their Maths Eyes and showing us the beauty of maths all around us!
