This week we were treated to a little insight into life in Moldova. Two of our classmates, whose families hail from Moldova put together a presentation for us. We learned that the Moldovan people are incredibly self-sufficient, growing almost all of their own food and buying very little from shops. Many families work off the land and have an underground basement/shed where they store their food in jars throughout the year. It can get very hot during the summer months there and the winter months are much colder than here in Ireland. We also found out that Romanian is the official language of Moldova- our two classmates speak this language fluently!
