To celebrate Grandparents' Day as part of Catholic Schools Week 2025, we conducted interviews with our grandparents to find out what school life was like long ago. We had lots of fun sharing our findings with our classmates. The information complemented our SESE lessons on 'Schools in the Past' where we had examined photos of classrooms with blackboards and chalk, inkwells, fireplaces and colourless walls. We also invited all the grandparents to our school for a special prayer service led by Fr. Kelly and Ms. Murray. Afterwards, we entertained them with a variety of poems, songs and even a rhyme as Gaeilge. We also showed off our wooden picture frames that we had carefully painted and decorated with sequins, gems and feathers. We hope to place photographs of our wonderful grandparents inside them!
