🔬 Science Week in the Infant Classes

14th Nov 2025

Our Junior and Senior Infants had a wonderful time celebrating Science Week. We learned all about famous inventors, including Alexander Graham Bell, who invented the telephone, and Thomas Edison, who invented the lightbulb. The children also enjoyed taking part in a science poster colouring competition.

Each day, we learned a new science fact. One of our favourites was discovering that your fingernails grow twice as fast as your toenails!

We also carried out a very exciting gummy bear experiment. The children made predictions about what would happen to gummy bears placed in three different solutions:

  • water

  • sugar and water

  • salt and water

We left them overnight and checked the results the following day. The children were thrilled to see what had happened and had great discussions about what had happened to the gummy bars and why the gummy bears changed in different ways.

It was a fun week of curiosity, questions, discoveries, and lots of hands-on learning for our youngest scientists!
