This year the school has begun fundraising for a new school playground. The playground will be a wonderful addition to the school. Offering choice, inclusion and benefiting all students, the playground will add a new dimension to play times. Through a variety of climbing structures the children will be challenged both physically and mentally. Not all children enjoy the busy yard at break time or playing sports and would like an area where they can engage in independent play on the play structure, swings or slides. Throughout the design phase of the playground, inclusion for all pupils has been considered with a view to making the playground as welcoming and inclusive as possible. Accessories that have been included are a sensory musical area, chalk boards and games. An agility trail will offer pupils the opportunity to improve their balance and climbing. The surface of the play area will be a soft wet pour ground ensuring a soft landing if there is a trip or fall, and that it will remain dry even in the winter to ensure all year round use.

The playground will be an extension of the beautiful outdoor classroom, increasing the frequency of outdoor learning and play for the school. Current and future students will all benefit from this beautiful, state of the art installation. The cost of the playground is €100,000 and we have raised €80,000.

The remaining amount required to bring this project to fruition is €20,000. Having already raised a substantial amount of the funding towards the playground through donations from local businesses and Parents' Association fundraising we are getting very close to our target.
