Saint Brigid's Day
1st Feb 2025
In preparation for St. Brigid's Day, we read the story of Brigid's cloak and how it grew and grew until she had gained enough of the king's land to build a church. We were delighted when 5th and 6th class re-enacted the story at assembly! We also took part in a live webinar all about St. Brigid and the customs surrounding her day- we learned that many people leave out a cloth on St. Brigid's eve so that she will bless it. Well done to the three sisters (pictured below) for distributing the crosses that local lady Delia Heneghan had made for charity. The girls also made a video clip of Delia explaining and demonstrating how she makes a cross out of rushes in less than 3 minutes, which they sent to the school for each class to watch.
